Is it really high
- Go to Marketing › Email Campaigns, then open the campaign.
- Under Performance, check Bounced against your recent campaigns.
Around 1% is par for a healthy list. A bounce is an inbox refusing the email outright. See read your email campaign report.
Mostly Hotmail and Outlook
Open Failed on the report and look at the addresses. When the bounces are mostly Hotmail, Outlook, Live and MSN, Microsoft is rejecting your mail because your sending domain has no DMARC record.
- Ask whoever manages your domain's DNS to add a DMARC record: a TXT record named
_dmarcat your domain, with the valuev=DMARC1; p=none; - Check your domain is still authenticated in Domains, as in emails going to spam.
- Send your next campaign and check Bounced again.
A freshly imported list
An old export from another system is full of dead addresses, and every one of them bounces.
Import the list with its own tag, so you can watch it separately: see import guests from a CSV. Expect a higher bounce rate on the first send to that tag, and leave the addresses that bounced out of future sends.
Check it worked
Your next campaign's Delivered sits around 98% or higher.
If that does not fix it

Good to know
- Bounces and spam are different problems: a bounce never arrives, spam arrives and is filed. For spam, see emails going to spam.
- One bad campaign does not harm your account, but repeatedly sending to a dirty list hurts your sender reputation.
- Sending from a free address makes all of this worse. See sending from a free email address.
