Change your Wi-Fi password, network name or speed limit
Change your SnapGuard Wi-Fi name, password or speed limits, and apply the change safely with a build.
2 min read · Updated
In short: on Networks, change the network, click Save, then click Build. Changes only reach your SnapGuard box after a build.
Change the Wi-Fi name or password
This can take guest Wi-Fi offline: every phone, till and card machine on that network has to rejoin. If you are not sure, contact support before you save.
- Choose your venue in the venue switcher, top left (on a phone, tap Menu first).
- Go to Wi-Fi › SnapGuard › Networks.
- Click the network's row to open Edit Network.
- Under Broadcast SSID, change the SSID (Wi-Fi name, up to 32 characters) or Password (at least 8 characters; empty means an open network).
- Click Save.
- Click Build in the Build pending bar at the bottom, then wait for it to finish.
No Broadcast SSID section? Ask support. If the Broadcast SSID switch is off, this network has no Wi-Fi name, so ask support before you switch it on.
Change speed limits
- Click Budgets on a network row.
- Change the limits in the panel that opens.
- In the bar at the bottom, click Save (or Revert to undo).
- Click Build, then wait for it to finish.
Measure your internet speed
Max download and Max upload, under Measure, are the speeds all networks share.
- Click Run test and wait. The page then scrolls down, so scroll back up to Measure.
- Click Use results as new max, or type your own figures. They save automatically. The test alone changes nothing.
Check it worked
The bar at the bottom goes away when the build finishes. Join the network on your own phone with the name and password shown.
Still stuck?
Email support at agent@stampede.ai with:
- Your venue name.
- The network you are working on.
- A screenshot of the Networks page.
Good to know
- Changing a network's SSID, Password, IP Address, Netmask, Interface or VLAN ID can cut off every device on it, tills and card machines included, until they rejoin.
- Deleting a network cannot be undone, and takes that Wi-Fi offline. Contact support first if you are not sure.
- Run Build and Run test at a quiet time, in case the Wi-Fi drops.
- To only check a network's details, open it and click Cancel.
- Only Admin, Moderator, Marketing, Reports and IT can see Wi-Fi. See what each team role can see and do.
