Block or allow a website or IP address
Add firewall rules to block or allow a website or IP address on your venue network, and remove rules you no longer need.
2 min read · Updated
In short: add a rule on Firewall. Check the address first: blocking the wrong IP, such as your till, card machine or router, can cut it off.
Creating a rule can take guest Wi-Fi offline. If you are not sure, contact support first.
With a SnapGuard box
- Choose your venue in the venue switcher, top left (on a phone, tap Menu first).
- Go to Wi-Fi › SnapGuard › Firewall.
- Click Add rule.
- Pick Block an IP or domain or Allow an IP or domain.
- Enter a Name, such as Block Facebook, and the address under IP or domain.
- Click Create rule.
With your own router
- Choose your venue in the venue switcher, top left (on a phone, tap Menu first).
- Go to Wi-Fi › Hardware › Firewall.
- Click Block IP/Website or Allow IP.
- Enter a Rule Name, pick IP Address or Domain under Type, and enter it.
- Click Create Rule.
Remove a rule
Click the bin button on its row. It goes straight away, with no confirmation. Removing an Allow rule can cut that device off at once, so check with your IT person first.
Check it worked
A green dot or Active means the rule is on the box. Pending means it is still being applied. A blocked website should not load on the guest Wi-Fi.
Rules are not available
If the page says rules are available once the device is connected, the box is not reachable. See your SnapGuard box shows as offline. Email support at agent@stampede.ai with:
- Your venue name.
- The rule name and address.
- A screenshot of the Firewall page.
Good to know
- Only set up Forward a port (or Port Forward) if your IT person or a supplier asks. It opens a device on your network to the internet.
- System rules have no bin button and cannot be deleted. On Hardware they are marked System.
- Firewall shows under Hardware only for some routers. If you cannot see it, ask support.
- Only Admin, Moderator, Marketing, Reports and IT can see Wi-Fi.
