Stampede announces Springo acquisition as part of post-lockdown growth plans
Marketing software businesses combine forces to target new IT channel partners
Edinburgh, UK, 5th July 2021 – Stampede has today announced its acquisition of fellow hospitality software startup, Springo, in a bid to strengthen the business and reach new hospitality customers worldwide. Stampede launched its first global reseller programme in November 2020, and has purchased Springo for its IP, notable channel customer-base, and ICT experience – which will help Stampede expand throughout the UK and beyond via new IT resellers.
Springo, like Stampede, is a data capture, digital marketing and customer engagement software business specialising in the hospitality sector. Both specialise in giving brick-and-mortar businesses access to the digital tools and services of big online brands. They have helped hundreds of hospitality businesses bounce back after COVID, and it is hoped that their combined forces will allow Stampede to reach even more venues. As part of the deal, Springo founder and director, Jay Ball will join Stampede as a non-executive director and minority shareholder. Springo’s employees will also join Stampede’s team. Jay brings a wealth of ICT, channel and business leadership experience to Stampede, having founded his first business, DataKom, in 2007 – which he sold in 2019 for a multi-million pound exit.
For existing channel partners like Invisinet and 7Hospitality, the Stampede platform represents a quick and easy way to increase monthly recurring revenues, while adding high demand products to their line of business. Following the Springo deal, Stampede is actively seeking new reseller partners, especially those with a high volume of clients in the retail and hospitality industries, as well as clients struggling to digitise multiple sites quickly/remotely.
“Jay has a wealth of experience in the telecoms space and we’re delighted to bring him and the rest of the Springo team on board with Stampede,” said Patrick Clover, Stampede founder and CEO. “Like Stampede, Springo has been helping hospitality businesses bounce back after an extremely difficult 16 months. By combining our technology, resources, expertise and customer-base, we believe we can reach even more businesses that need our support. Post-lockdown, I expect a lot of hospitality businesses to maintain some of the digital elements of the customer experience that were adopted this year out of necessity. There is a real opportunity for channel partners working in this space to make the digital hospitality experience as seamless as possible for customers and venues alike, which is exactly what our platform delivers.”
“We built a brilliant platform that was very successful, and combining our software means we can now offer far more to Springo and Stampede customers and resellers,” said Jay Ball, Stampede’s new non-executive director. Stampede is one of the UK’s leading hospitality software businesses, and we want to bolster their efforts to bring digital tools to the physical businesses that need them most. Springo has great experience selling to the channel, we understand their pain points and what they expect from their software partners. We bring this expertise to Stampede and believe it will give them the extra firepower needed to be successful in this industry.”
Benefits of the Stampede platform for hospitality customers include:
- Capture customer data instantly when customers connect to guest Wi-Fi or register via QR code
- Track repeat customers with connection data and build new loyalty schemes and promotions (the success of which can be tracked in real time)
- Generate more reviews across platforms like Google and TripAdvisor (customers can be contacted within an hour of leaving a physical venue encouraging them to leave a review)
- Introduce digital stamp card schemes and let customers earn rewards
Stampede was founded by software developer and tech entrepreneur, Patrick Clover, to enable physical venues to engage with their customers more easily and effectively, and understand them better. From the independent coffee shop to global brands with thousands of sites – Stampede provides a level of customer insight previously only available to large corporations. It offers business owners better information on their customers through improved engagement and insights into consumer habits.
