iOS 10 WiFi Security Recommendation.

<a href="https://business.google.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google My Business</a> (GMB) has rolled out several updates over the last year. Updates include new fields and info boxes specifically for physical locations like restaurants.

These new fields allow hospitality businesses to add details about their venues&#8217; services, health and safety and dining options like those on <a href="https://stampede.ai/blog/safety-measure-transparency-on-tripadvisor/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tripadvisor.</a>



Over on the <a href="https://blog.aretheyhappy.com/major-google-my-business-2020-updates/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Are They Happy blog</a>, there’s a detailed breakdown of the Google My Business updates with screenshots.



Here are some of the key areas of your profile that we’d recommend updating ASAP:



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Health and safety measures</li><li>Takeaway, dine in, collection availability</li><li>Outdoor and indoor seating</li><li>Dining options (i.e. breakfast)</li><li>Offerings, such as vegan, GF etc.</li></ul>



To update these settings

Scroll down until you see the “Highlights” section and in here you’ll find the new options to enhance your listing &#8211; it’s right near the bottom. Click the little pencil icon, then make your edits, and save.

Richer detail in your listing not only provides potential customers with the info they want, but it also helps Google to get you in front of more potential customers.



Feeding this information into your profile will match your business with a wider number of consumer searches on Google. Without it, your business might not get featured when it should be.



For example: Someone searches “Takeaway near me”, and Google will use the information on the GMB profiles of nearby businesses to deliver results to that person.

The left column refers to the selected monthly time interval. The top column represents the number of subsequent visits.&nbsp;

The Best Marketing Methods For Your Pub

On a hot, sunny and &#8211; more importantly &#8211; windy day in July, I had the pleasure of visiting <a href="http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/chesters-roman-fort-and-museum-hadrians-wall/">Chester’s Roman Fort</a> in Northumberland. The site excavated by John Clayton gives a fascinating insight into the lives of a garrison of 500 cavalry troops who lived on the site for about 300 years.

In celebration of this year&#8217;s major wall-wide exhibition, Hadrian&#8217;s Cavalry, there&#8217;s a brand new sound installation at the fort, which is a first for English Heritage. Once you&#8217;re there, follow your ears to find &#8216;<a href="http://www.seeneon.com">Cavalry 360</a>&#8216;, a huge musical instrument standing 3.5 meters high and 12 meters across. This extraordinary installation uses 32 wind turbines to create the sound of 500 cavalry warriors thundering towards you.
That said, being so impressed by the site, I wanted to send a picture to my family, but, alas &#8211; no mobile signal. I enquired at the office if there was WiFi on the property and was told that it was not possible, due to the poor quality of the WiFi broadcast range.
<h3>No WiFi , Slow WiFi, Limited Marketing Budget</h3>
Later on, I overheard staff members discussing how they could get the message of this event across to a larger audience. Due to their small budget, their marketing choices were limited to blogging and website engagement. When I heard this, I was shocked.
<a href="http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/">English Heritage</a> is one of a group of charitable organisations in the UK, which cares for and maintains sites of significant historic interest. They alone have 400 sites, the <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/">National Trust</a> has 350 heritage properties and <a href="https://members.historic-scotland.gov.uk/places">Historic Scotland</a> has 300 properties. These organisations are struggling to find resources to keep our heritage alive.
It seems obvious that when it comes to WiFi, they are missing a trick; with WiFi comes intelligent reporting. Every person who visits a specific site could be a potential visitor at any of the other sites &#8211; if only they knew what was going on. Although these organisations have websites, not everyone visits the website and, if they do, they probably don&#8217;t login for news updates.

Historic Properties Missing the Marketing Opportunity of a Lifetime

“As of 15 June, Europeans will be able to travel in the EU without roaming charges. It means that when travelling in the EU, consumers will be able to call, send SMS or surf on their mobile at the same price they pay at home.” – The European Commission

Gone are the days of dreading your phone bill after a week’s holiday of using 3G to try and navigate around an unknown country. Post-holiday blues were only intensified by a phenomenon called ‘bill shock’ &#8211; a phenomenon so sobering travelers would avoid their phones while on holiday.<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/2735287/Blog/roam-not-roam.jpg" alt="roam-not-roam.jpg" width="700" height="312" />
‘Roam like at home’ means that calls, texts and data are all free in Europe, and as it automatically came into effect, customers didn’t even have to lift a finger to make sure they were signed up.
It is billed as an ‘end to all roaming charges’, but it’s actually not as simple as that. The small print in the EU rules states a ‘fair usage’ policy, meaning mobile phone companies can still charge extra fees for some users who have unlimited, or data generous, packages.
Here’s how some of the leading UK networks are limiting ‘free’ data roaming:

There’s also a limit as to how many days you can access free data, with a maximum of 30 days at a time and 90 days per year.
Why does the ‘fair usage’ limit matter?
It’s important to remember that we use our devices differently while abroad, spending a lot more time checking maps, sharing experiences and photos with friends online and making video calls with loved ones. So it’s also really important to remember that your data allowance will run out extremely quickly. Plus, if you’re streaming or downloading content this will drain your allowance even faster.
The new law also only applies to EU citizens, meaning lots of people still need access to WiFi and are vulnerable to being charged extortionate fees. It’s also worth being mindful that Brexit brings a lot of uncertainty for free EU data roaming &#8211; as yet, no one knows what will happen.
So, what do we think about the new EU ‘free’ data roaming? 
Well, we’d say that when you can, rely on WiFi and turn off your data allowance. WiFi is usually faster, cheaper and also allows you to be more ‘data heavy’, making video calls and browsing online til your heart’s content.
EU data roaming is excellent as a backup and to check-in while on the move, but we’d suggest that sticking to WiFi where it is available is always best. When using WiFi you’ll be rest assured you’ve removed the risk of hefty fees and charges, taking away the worry from your holiday.
A quick point about security&#8230;
When using WiFi abroad, try to connect in places you visit, such as bars and restaurants, that have <a href="https://www.stampede.ai/how-it-works#security">password protected WiFi</a>. Not only will this keep your connection secure, but you’ll possibly receive <a href="/blog/press/guest-wifi-a-sales-marketing-tool">discounts and promotions</a> from the businesses your patronizing via text or email &#8211; who doesn’t love a discount on their next drink, or a free dessert with their meal?! 
If you are traveling round Europe, you’ll often be at risk of security problems. Rather than using a password protected home or work network, you’ll be using public WiFi or even worse, shared computers.
Anyone on the same network (which could be hundreds or even thousands of people) could grab your passwords, usernames, credit card numbers and browsing history &#8211; a VPN (Virtual Private Network) protects you from this.
VPNs also let you get around Internet filtering &#8211; sites you might not expect (such as Netflix, Facebook and the BBC) are blocked in certain countries. To get around this, you simply connect your VPN to a country that doesn’t block the site you’re after.

WiFi marketing is currently becoming an essential tool for small businesses – and with good reason. Growing in popularity, it’s one of the most innovative and powerful ways to advertise while effectively bridging the communication gap between the retailer and the customer. 



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The big question is – how does WiFi advertising work?</h3>



<amp-fit-text layout="fixed-height" min-font-size="6" max-font-size="72" height="80">When business owners are first introduced to the term “WiFi marketing”, their response is often a blank stare. This is completely understandable since this form of advertising has taken digital media marketing to a whole new level. For this type of marketing to be possible, you will need to have your own WiFi coverage that preferably remains within the borders of your store. Anyone that uses a WiFi-enabled device (like a smartphone, tablet or laptop), will be able to see and connect to your WiFi network. Upon joining your network, your customer will be redirected to a splash page. Here they will see a message from your store and they will be notified on the terms of use. Many WiFi marketing companies allow you to customise your WiFi splash page with your branding while notifying the user about the network’s terms of use. To agree to these terms and to access your WiFi, the customer will have to enter their email address and you can also prompt them to answer other useful questions. Once they have agreed to give you this information, they can use your WiFi as a hotspot (you can determine the type of access they have and set limits). It’s at this point that your digital marketing efforts can commence. The platform that your customers have just subscribed to can prompt them to visit your other social profiles, it can notify them when you are running a promotion, it can be used to store data for a <a href="https://stampede.ai/blog/loyal-customers-should-be-king/">loyalty reward program</a>, and it can even track trends so that you can deliver on what it is your customers are really after – encouraging them to come back for more. One of the biggest novelties about hotspot marketing, however, is that you are now also providing an additional sought-after service.
