Stampede & Square Launch PayOS to Boost Hospitality Personalisation

Press Release
Stampede has announced a strategic partnership with Square, resulting in the development and launch of the Stampede PayOS module within its hospitality platform.
The new Stampede PayOS module, powered by Square, aims to offer restaurant operators a unified platform where orders, payments, and guest data can be accessed, with the objective of improving customer engagement, revenue, and guest loyalty. The partnership is described as a response to direct requests from Stampede’s client base, indicating a recognised demand for greater integration between point-of-sale and guest engagement systems.
The integration merges Square Restaurant POS with Stampede PayOS, allowing operators to gain insights into guest purchases, values, and visit frequency both during and after guests’ visits. According to the companies, this data is then synchronised with guest profiles within the Stampede platform, making it accessible to staff through the Square Restaurant POS system. The combined data is designed to enable more tailored service and marketing initiatives while also providing operators with more detailed reporting on marketing outcomes, guest engagement, and revenue streams.
Stampede reports that the integration offers a single, centralised destination for managing both point-of-sale and customer data, potentially removing the expense and complications often associated with connecting different technology systems. The company states that this addresses what it refers to as the ‘data gap’ faced by many restaurants, affecting their ability to coordinate marketing, sales, and operations efficiently. Additional support is provided for business management features such as predictive spend forecasting, no-touch loyalty schemes, and AI-driven workflow tools.

Features offered
Some of the main features of the integrated solution include unified guest profiles, centralising purchases, bookings, reviews, loyalty transactions, and contact information for each individual. Loyalty rewards are linked to payment cards, removing the need for scanning, with offers and automatic discounts applied based on purchase behaviour. Advanced personalisation enables targeted marketing based on spend level, purchase history, dietary preferences, visit frequency or review sentiment, with AI-assisted segmentation.
Marketing campaigns can be executed in real-time, using up-to-date spending and visit data, avoiding the dependence on third-party information. For operational needs, businesses can choose from a selection of hardware options, from compact devices for coffee shops to full terminals for multi-site operators, all integrating with Square’s systems.
Industry response
“Our partnership with Square marks a significant upgrade for businesses using both Square and Stampede technologies, with our combined solutions providing a powerful proposition for the hospitality industry.” says Patrick Clover, Founder and CEO, Stampede.
“Hospitality businesses now have the potential to become smarter, deliver more personalised marketing, and become more efficient in managing POS and guest engagement. Together, we offer a highly accessible way for operators of all sizes to modernise their sales and marketing strategies in order to counterbalance and build resistance to the macroeconomic effects challenging our sector – instead, providing a unified solution that supports growth.”
Emily McCleave, UK Strategic Partnerships at Square, commented on the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Stampede as a Square partner. By combining our strengths, we offer sellers more value by bringing Square data into Stampede’s guest engagement products, enabling sellers to provide highly personalised guest, loyalty, and marketing experiences to their customers. Together, we’re helping hospitality businesses drive efficiency, growth and long-standing customer relationships.”

The partnership has been established at a time when hospitality businesses face a challenging trading environment, with operators seeking efficiencies and improved guest retention through technology-led approaches. Both companies believe the joint solution can support operators in adapting to these conditions by simplifying sales and marketing management.
Stampede was established in Edinburgh in 2015 and provides a guest engagement technology platform for operators across restaurants, bars, hotels, and cafés, amalgamating services such as Wi-Fi access, CRM, loyalty programmes, reviews, and bookings.
The integration with Square gives Stampede clients access to the payment platform’s hardware and systems, creating a combined offering that covers both the operational and marketing aspects of customer engagement in the hospitality sector.
